  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Bake 12 strips of thick cut bacon on a sheet pan for 15-18 minutes or until the bacon is golden brown.  Drain on paper towels.

Cut the onion into thick rings.  Mix up the onion ring ingredients to form a batter.  Add more water if needed so it's not too thick and you're able to easily dip and coat your onion rings.

Coat each onion ring in the batter, then coat one in the bread crumbs. Place on sheet pan to prepare for frying.

Heat your canola oil to 350 degrees F.

Fry onion rings until golden brown. Drain on a rack and salt them as soon as they come out of the oil.

Divide your ground beef into 6-7 ounce portions and form into patties a bit larger than the size of your hamburger buns (as they will shrink when cooked).  Season them on both sides with Kosher salt and black pepper.

Spray your grill with avocado oil, then grill the burgers on high heat until to your desired doneness.  Toast the buns on the grill as well.

To assemble the burger, spread 1 tablespoon of BBQ sauce on the bottom bun and top with a grilled burger patty.  Top the burger patty with a slice of cheese, then two strips of bacon, then one large onion ring, then top it all off with the hamburger bun lid.  Enjoy!
