General Tso’s Chicken
Description
I am willing to bet that this is probably the #1 most ordered dish from every Chinese Takeout place all over America. It's crispy, tender, and full of tangy, sweet, and spicy flavor! Well, I have an easy way to make this dish at home and it tastes every bit as good as the takeout version, but probably healthier because you know every ingredient going into it!
Ingredients
For the General Tso's Sauce:
Instructions
-
Toss the diced chicken thigh meat with the corn starch, soy sauce, and sesame oil. It should look like it’s coated with a batter.
In batches, deep fry the coated chicken pieces in 350 degree light olive oil or canola oil. Remove from oil when light golden brown and drain on a drying rack.
Combine all sauce ingredients and whisk together until smooth. Add to a pan over medium-high heat and stir until it begins to bubble and thicken. Once it begins to thicken, add the fried chicken pieces to the pan and toss to coat with the sauce.
Plate by serving over a bed of cooked white rice and a side of steamed broccoli.
